Important message - Derby Line, Vermont port of entry

Charter-tourist transport

This message is addressed to carriers, drivers and travellers who enter the United States via the Derby Line, Vermont port of entry (Autoroute55/Interstate 91).

Since the Fall of 2016, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) port of entry undergo major construction that affect delays and traffic at the border.

In order to expedite the project, commercial vehicles will be routed through the eastern portion of the facility. Therefore, trucks will be asked to remain on the right lane of A-55 South. Shift toward the left lane can be completed only after the intersection with route 247. Proper construction signage will be installed and indicate to truckers where to go to be processed. Access to the emergency turnaround north of Caswell avenue overpass should not be blocked.

This change is will come into effect as soon as February 13th and last until May 2017.

Note the change doesn’t affect buses operations and bus operators will be informed they will have to share the booths with trucks.

Finally, Canada Border Services Agency operations at the Port of Stanstead for carriers and travellers entering Canada, northbound, will not be affected.

The press release (clic here) provides further details and contact information for this project as well as alternate ports of entries to enter the U.S. via Vermont.
